Make Your Mark—Friday, Saturday, Sunday—during opening of Festival.

• Large, handcrafted pot will be in the Heritage Tent. All Festival visitors are invited to “Make Their Mark” (signature or doodle) on the pot.

 

Friday, August 14: Featured artists and ceramics class

 

• 2:00—Hands on craft class for Festival visitors. Participants will be introduced to basic pottery techniques and make an ornamental object using their creativity to turn a slab of clay into a 3-dimensional decorative object. Participants can register for the workshop at https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/intro-to-ceramics The class is limited to 8 adults. Fee for the project is $10.00. All materials will be provided. Participants will take home their finished project.

• Rick Booth—Historian. Recently, Rick has become interested in making old pictures come to life again through digital image manipulation. He will be using a television screen in the Heritage Arts Tent to share those old pictures and tell their stories—all day

 

• Shana Fair—Potter. Shana will demonstrate slab making techniques to turn a flat slab of clay into dimensional object—all day.

 

Saturday, August 15: Featured artists and ceramics class.

 

• 11:00-- Hands on craft class for Festival visitors. • Josh Floyd—Potter. Josh will demonstrate wheel throwing. He will be crafting objects such as bowls and mugs using the potter’s wheel. He is the creator of the “Make Your Mark” pot on display for visitors to sign at the Heritage Tent—all day.

Sunday, August 16:  Featured artists and ceramics class.

 

• 2:00-- Hands on craft class for Festival visitors. The workshop will introduce participants to three diverse ways to embellish fabric. Each participant will receive fabric to create a 5x5” square. Rebecca will demonstrate three surface design techniques featuring crayon, watercolor pencil, and stamping with paint. A short tutorial on creating unique stamps from cardboard will be given. Participants can register for the workshop at https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/fabric-embellishment The class is limited to 10 adults. Fee for the project is $10.00. All materials will be provided. Participants will take home their finished project.

 

• Rebecca Hosta -- Mixed media artist and poet. Rebecca discovered fabric as her main creative outlet. Her work is influenced by the colors and textures of seasonal changes in nature and cast-off things ranging from abandoned buildings and neglected farm sites to vintage ephemera.

• Shana Fair—hand spinner and natural materials dyeing. Shana will be displaying the results of her dyeing experiments and showing visitors the process of natural dying on handspun wool. Some of the natural materials she uses include onion skins, marigold flowers, cochineal bugs, and goldenrod. This year, she is experimenting with lichens.
